Who is Mary Hudson from Nine Stories and what is their importance?

Mary Hudson is the Chief's girlfriend. She meets the Chief and the rest of the boys whenever she is in New York City to visit her dentist. Mary's presence is confusing to the boys at first, as they aren't certain why a woman is present in their all-male world. When Mary proves she can compete at baseball, however, she is quickly welcomed by the Comanches, as the boys are called.
