Who is The Sophists from Nicomachean Ethics and what is their importance?

The sophists were philosophers who addressed the education of individuals in public life. Aristotle mentions them from time to time, sometimes negatively. The word "sophist" also refers to people who offer false arguments that seem valid, but are not, and Aristotle uses it in this sense.
