Coral Gables, Florida is the place where Marisol grew up, raised by Elisa. This is also the location where the novel ends. After escaping the dangers of the communist regime, Luis and Marisol find refuge here. This is where the house that Marisol inherits from Elisa rests, and Marisol has tried to make it her own without erasing her grandmother's presence.
