New moon

The home base of "New Moon" is the town of Forks, Washington, where Bella's single dad lives. Bella attends school in Forks and spends short periods of time with her friends. Forks, like Seattle, is almost always rainy or humid. This is the reason the Cullens settled here. Vampires cannot be seen in the sunlight. Since there is hardly any sunlight, vampires are fairly safe.

A second, frequent setting is in La Push, a nearby Indian reservation, where Jacob and Billy live. Between La Push and Forks is the forest, where Bella spends more time than is safe. In this book, Bella spends a lot of time off the main hiking trail looking for a special meadow where Edward took her to once. The forest is also the wandering place of vampires and werewolves. In the beginning of the story, there is mention of hikers going missing and sightings of large bears.

Volterra is a place in Italy, where Bella and Alice travel to stop Edward from committing suicide. The only part of Volterra Bella gets to see is a main square and an underground vampire dwelling.
