In the end a bargain is struck so that Demeter's daughter, Persophone, could return for a season or two every year. During this time, Demeter would allow things to bloom and grow. During one of the seasons when Persephone was in the underworld Demeter went to stay with a family who invited her in. She was drawn to the youngest child and sought to embue special supernatural gifts to him. But the mother did not understand and made Demeter stop. When Demeter revealed who she was she demanded that the woman and the village build a temple to soothe her. Later, on it is Dionysus that becomes the savior of mankind because of his dual nature and his symbolic death and rebirth.
