The tone of the book is subjective. The author discusses within the pages of this book fantasies that women who have written to her or spoken with her have shared. These fantasies are organized according to the subject of the chapter, such as why women fantasize and where their fantasies come from. The author cannot be objective about her subject because she has experienced many of the same things her readers have and therefore cannot look at the subject with any distance, as would be required for an objective point of view.
