Who is Master Osman from My Name Is Red?

Master Osmon is a master illuminator and painter. He is the Sultan's Head Illuminator in the book-arts workshop. Over the course of the novel, Osman sees the work-shop's end nearing.... at least as he knows it. The new artists are more concerned with making money than they are in making beautiful art. Osman sees their techniques and style as mediocre..... and he no longer wants to be a part of the job he has always held as important.
