Goodall's purpose in telling her story is to expose young people to what her career choice entails, to describe the life of an ethologist and the work of a primatologist. Her primary theme is to show children that the world of science and the love of animals can be combined into a career, and that she, herself, is a pioneering example of what someone who loves animals can achieve.
