This is at heart a Biotechnology thriller. The novel functions best as a fast-paced thriller. The straightforward writing and accessible language, coupled with believable and terse dialog, are engaging. The biological and medical sciences are a plausible blend of real and imagined technologies, though the outcomes at times are not particularly credible. Although somewhat dated, the computer technology is described in simple enough terms that it does not present an anachronistic stumbling block for a contemporaneous reader.
