How has The White Building changed since Tun was last there in the novel, Music of the Ghosts?

The White Building is the setting for where Dr. Narunn lives, and where Tun goes to liberate his family when he comes back to Phnom Penh. In 1974 they were clean municipal buildings but in the three decades since, it has become “A mass tomb that appears neither for the dead nor the living but for those disavowed by both” (228).
