How does the author use foreshadowing in Mrs. Dalloway?

In the beginning of the novel, Clarissa remembers having a premonition on a day in June, while she was at Bourton. She had a premonition that “something awful was about to happen.” This feeling foreshadows Septimus’ suicide.
