Why does Adam Brandt vow revenge against Ezra in the play, Mourning Becomes Electra?

When Ezra refuses to help his brother's Canadian-Indian wife and Adam's mother, Marie Brantome, when she really needs it, Marie ends up dying. As a result of her death, Adam vows revenge.
