The narrative can be seen as a metaphor for changing eras. The 1950's is a time of great change in the world. The post-war period sees a reorganization of world powers. Europe was especially forced to reconsider their international relationships. The development of the atomic bomb changed the world of international relations and had dramatic effect on the lives of everyday people. Furthermore, society was changing as well as women's roles in society. In Britain, the traditional upper class is being forced to become more accepting of people born of a lesser class but who have earned new money . All of these changes are reflected in Moonraker.
