There is not a singular plot or conflict that defines Miss Jane -- instead, it is simply the story about Jane's life, from beginning to end. There are conflicts, including notable ones, that surface throughout the story, such as how Jane must emotionally grapple with never having a sexual partner as a result of her condition. However, this conflict is put aside almost entirely during such scenes as Lon Temple's lethal tractor accident, or Sylvester and Ida's mental declines at the end of their lives. What each of these moments share in common, however, is that they were all impactful moments in Jane's growth and life direction.
