Emily’s decision to wear only white symbolizes the focus and purity of her mind. This decision was motivated by her belief that reducing clutter and fuss, and wearing one simple, light, and weightless tone, would make room for inspiration to flow through her and let her imagination soar. Furthermore, another way to look at Emily’s choice to wear white is that it could symbolize her absolute devotion to her poetry, white being the color of a bride as of the Victorian era. She has committed to her poetry in a marriage of the mind and spirit.
