All of the essays collected in Minor Feelings are written from the author, Cathy Park Hong's first person perspective. By employing this vantage, the author is able to claim her own voice and experience, to demand visibility and the right to personal expression. However, Hong's narrative point of view never assumes to dominate the collective Asian American experience, to stand in for the many and varying iterations of being an Asian citizen of the United States.
