Corporal Carrot was orphaned as an infant and brought up by a family of Dwarfs in the mountains. He is described as a hard-working man, who values of honesty, respect, and politeness.

What Carrot doesn't know is that he is actually one of the last surviving heirs to the throne of Ankh-Morpork. His 'innate' ability to make people like him and command their attention sets him apart, although, he himself, appears to be completely unaware of his abilities.
