Why do Benson's parents force him out of their home in the novel, Memorial?

Benson’s parents do not approve of or accept Benson’s homosexuality. After he is diagnosed with HIV, his parents force him out of the house, as the diagnosis is an indirect reminder of Benson’s sexuality.
