Who is Finlay, Sanders from Martyn Pig and what is their importance?

Finlay and Sanders are the two police officers that assist Breece in his inquiries. Finlay is portrayed as being somewhat bored and a bit of a dogsbody for Breece, something of an errand boy or gofer. The female Sanders is portrayed as being more sympathetic, and somewhat warmer. There is the sense that she is the so-called "good cop" to Breece's so-called "bad cop."
