What did Twain write about the officers and workers on the Ajax

The officers that were on board the Ajax had extensive military experience from serving in America's Navy during the war. Twain writes in chapter 3 that the Ajax was intended to be a war ship, and warned against the dangers of becoming a coal shoveler in the fire room.
