Why did the narrator say " we children , of course , we are only vaguely aware of the extent of our poverty”?

give explanation to why they said that

Lizabeth is describing the "group" or children in general..... noting that poverty was merely a part of their lives..... the only thing they'd ever known, thus, they really didn't know that life could be any different.
