Why was Magnus made an einherji in the novel, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, Book 3 The Ship of the Dead?

Because Magnus died a valiant death in combat, he was made an einherji, one of Odin’s chosen warriors who will fight alongside him in the final battle of Ragnarok.
