Macbeth was the King of Scotland from 1040 to 1057. Initially the king of Moray, he later became king of the Scots upon Duncan's murder was in 1040. Shakepeare's Macbeth is a fabulous play, but it is also grossly inaccurate. His right to the throne was unquestionable, and he went on to rule for 17 years.
