What is Nawader?

Nawader is an old wooden boat that Patti and Fred buy broken and that they fix up together. They park it in their yard and work on it together. It is a 1950s model Chris Craft Constellation. When it is finished they listen to sports games inside, mostly involving the Detroit Tigers. On rained-out days, they listen to Coltrane or Beethoven. The boat is crushed by their willow when it is hit by lightning.
