Why does Ayah find comfort in thinking about weaving in the opening scene of the story, Lullaby?

The memories of her mother and grandmother weaving comforts Ayah because it represents a time where her culture and her way of life matter and make sense. This connection to her people also comforts an older Ayah whose world is stripped bare of its culture and some people turn away from these traditional ways.
