Why is Thursday considered a celebrity in the opening pages of the book, Thursday Next in Lost in a Good Book: A Novel?

At the beginning of the book, Thursday is a celebrity because of her previous case. In it, she changed the ending of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, causing a great deal of controversy among the public despite the overall feeling that the ending is an improvement.
