Dennis was a problem child with a long history of bad behavior, particularly, in school. When Garabino meets Dennis, he is sixteen-years-old. Dennis is described as tall, with dark hair and eyes. When Garabino asks him about his childhood, Dennis tells him about the behavior that led to his expulsion from several schools, and eventually, time served in a detention center for juveniles.

After his release from the detention center, Dennis stayed away from school and rejoined life on the streets. Six months later he was arrested in connection with the shooting of two boys at his former high school. When Garabino interviews him, Dennis is awaiting his trial for murder.
