how is Piggy a heroic figure?

Piggy is heroic in his own way. Rather than violence, he finally faces Jack and his group in chapter 11. He is blind and unarmed. He appeals to the boys, now savages, in the name of humanity and what is right. Piggy is fully aware that he will get hurt or even killed.
