Long Walk to Freedom is told in the first-person perspective of its author, Nelson Mandela. Through this perspective, the reader is able to gain a greater historical understanding of the anti-apartheid movement through one of, if not the most, recognizable member of the movement: South Africa’s first black President in the post-apartheid era.
