Phaedrus defines "static good" as being the traditions and laws of a particular society that underline the values proposed by both the leaders and the people. "Dynamic good" is defined as the values that lay outside of a a culture that need to be brought into that society in order to evolve and survive. However, the two concepts cannot exist without the other, as an entirely static society would become stagnant and, eventually wither away, while an entirely dynamic society would dissolve into chaos.
