What is the theme in Life of Pi by Yann Martel?

There are many themes that you can consider. God and creation is one of my favourite themes. From a boy, Pi looked for God. Pi was not satisfied with the only a standard Hindu, Muslim, or Christian belief systems: Pi saw beauty in all of them. Pi ponders religion and God while alone on his little boat lost at sea.
