Life of Pi

Pi questions the purpose of reason. Why does he struggle with this? YOU DO NOT HAVE TO RESTATE !!

Reason is important to Pi in his scientific career and in his observations of animal behavior. Pi however understands the limits of reason: he calls "fool's gold for the bright." Reason doesn't explain the metaphysical or spiritual realm.
