What do the onlookers see as the asteroid hits the moon?

At the moon event, Miranda, her mom and Jonny all go out to the street to watch what happens, as do their neighbors. The asteroid hits the moon, but something unexpected happens. The moon appears to move closer to the earth, and looks oddly shaped.
