What is the author's tone in the memoir, Life After Death?

Damien's story is told in very informal language. He writes his story as if he is talking with a friend. In fact, at one point in his book, Damien refers to a friend with whom he is chatting. This reference indicates that Damien intends his story to be very intimate and informal in tone.
