What happens when Cochran is dying in the novel, Legends of the Fall?

While Cochran lies dying from heat and dehydration, his injuries draw vultures. A worker at a nearby mission, Mauro, sees the vultures and finds Cochran. Diller, the mission doctor and priest, brings Cochran back to his mission clinic to treat the dehydration, sunburn, and injuries.
