When many Auschwitz survivors returned to their hometowns, they found no shelter. Stalin and the Russian military have taken advantage of the mass deportations of Jews to seal homes and farms and give them to the Russian people. So when people would return, they would find their homes occupied by Russians and would have no place to go.
