Hitler's physical condition was deteriorating even though he was only 55. By the end of 1944, his gait was that of a senile old man. His left hand continually shook, and he was barely strong enough to hold a fork in his right hand. He was so weak that he could no longer sign documents. He was addicted to cocaine and methamphetamines, suffered from irritable bowel syndrome, had a irregular hearbeat, and had problems with skin lesions on his legs.
