Baz's Thunder cap represents Baz's innocence as well as the hidden truth in things. Baz wears the cap everyday out of his love for baseball and his favorite team. After Baz loses his cap outside of Mad's house, Vic finds it and wears it to disguise himself. The hat is later found by the police and links Baz directly to the murder scene, as it contains his DNA. Yet the truth is that Baz was not even there. The cap is significant because it is an example of one of the times when the truth is much more complex and strange than it initially seems. Even though the police insist Baz has a criminal record and left behind DNA at the scene of the crime, the truth is that he is innocent.
