Anya Seton tells this story with lush detail. Her writing style, from the omnipotent viewpoint, moves fairly quickly and covers an amazing amount of material, condensed very neatly into readable prose. The reader is able to immerse herself in Seton's story, s it flows along through time as rapidly as we truly experience time. Her style of introducing many characters, and bringing them back to us at other points in the story, makes it easy to learn the history she is describing, as well as the characters she develops.
