In Jurassic Park, the founder and owner of the park is attracted to amber because it is through this ancient fossilized sap that he was able to isolate dino DNA. Specifically, he was looking for amber that had mosquitoes trapped in it. From the mosquitoes he extracted the dna which allowed him to replicate the dinosaurs.
