Who is Salina Dutton from Jubilee and what is their importance?

Salina Dutton is John's wife and Lillian's mother. She is also the mistress of Shady Oaks when Vyry is a small child. Aware of her husband's dalliances, Salina is angry with John for his longstanding relationship with Hetta his black mistress, not to mention the children he has fathered by a slave. Unfortunately, she chooses to take that anger out on Vyry rather than her husband.
