Snowbound is a narrative poem (tells a story). In SnowBound, the lines of verse are composed of a pattern in which an unaccented syllable is followed by an accented one. Each pair of unaccented and accented syllables is called an iamb. Each line of the poem contains four iambs; therefore, the meter of the poem is described as iambic tetrameter.
