Who is John Reed from Jane Eyre?

John Reed is Jane's cousin, and the brother of Eliza and Geogiana Reed. He is fourteen when Jane comes to live in their home, where he bullies her endlessly. John is cruel, sadistic, and spoiled. His mother is oblivious (or chooses to be) of his behavior. Jane later learns from Bessie that John was expelled from university.
