Who is Jefferson Pardee from the novel, Island of the Sequined Love Nun?

Jefferson Pardee is the editor of the newspaper on Truk and has spent thirty years reporting the mundane news of the island. After Tucker, the second pilot in a few months passes through on the way to Alualu, Jefferson decides to investigate what is really going on. Jefferson lands on the island but is quickly captured by the Japanese guards that patrol the compound and taken to Beth Curtis. Tucker Case finds all that remains of Jefferson Pardee in the reef off the shore of the island after his body is left for the sharks that patrol the waters.
