A 60 year old professor named, Shlemiel, has a dilema. He can't remember where he lives. The story covers his attempts to remember where it is he lives and how to get home. He lives in New York City, infamous for difficult streets and unruly taxi drivers. Both he runs in to. Shlemiel can remember that it is his birthday, but he cannot recall where it is that he lives. Eventually, through a series of events, the professor is dropped off at a payphone and when he gets out he ends up running into someone that he knows that can help him get home.
