Krakauer makes wide use of natural imagery in Into the Wild. Nature and mountain climbing are very much a part Krakauer’s experiences, and he often links Chris with desert sands and vast expanses of the untamed wilderness. This natural imagery describes and juxtaposes Chris's personality.
