When constructing your five paragraph response you will want to include that this story by Mark Twain is written like a travelogue, that some of the main themes have to do with the juxtaposition of remembered events in history and the true reality of the situation. Twain is also highly critical of those that are profiting from the past, exploiting situations, people, or circumstances for their own gain. He also takes particular aim at institutions that are aimed at doing good, but miss the mark wildly. Such institutions include, but certainly are not limited to, the protestant churches and the Catholic churches of the time.
