Father Leboutilier has secured a place for Saul in the Indian League with Fred Kelly and his family. Saul is finally breaking free from the tyranny of the residential school and the bondage of the church. Unfortunately, the higher levels of hockey are part of the white world and this world is not yet ready to embrace the ultra-talented Saul. Racism and bigotry are embedded in the white world which will prevent Saul from letting the game take him to new places. We later find out that Father Leboutilier had been sexually abusing Saul at the school.
