The well-known and well-regarded American playwright Eugene O'Neill appears in once scene of Indecent. He offers support and encouragement to the despondent Lemml, essentially encouraging to continue loving theatre in general and "...Vengeance" in particular, even after the performance of "...Vengeance" has been shut down by the police. O'Neill is portrayed as being intoxicated, but passionate and sensitive about Lemml's situation, about theatre in general, and about what he believes is theatre's responsibility to tell difficult truths.
