Schlossberg frequently attaches her own personal experience to her investigative work, therefore, aligning herself with the reader. Because of her career with the New York Times, Schlossberg of course has more access to agricultural data and energy industries, than the majority of her readers. She uses her experience and reputation to communicate with members of each industry, as well as individuals affected by these industries' often controversial practices.
